Adult Sailing Lessons

SSA offers adult sailing course in our Flying Scot sailboats. Class is four days, Monday-Thursday evenings from 5:30-8:30. There’s no better way to unwind from a hectic day than spending time with others on the waters of Seneca Lake. Sunsets included free of charge!

Adult Sailing Course

Sailors will learn and practice the basics of sailing. The program includes: boat rigging, parts identification, wind direction, boat handling, crewing, and water safety. This class is designed for those who have no experience whatsoever with sailing as well as those who have had some sailing experience but need a refresher as the new season starts.

We will use a Flying Scot, 19 foot long day sailing/racing dinghy that includes main, jib, and optional spinnaker. Capacity is instructor plus up to 3 adults (18 and older). In order to minimize risk during the pandemic, the adults must be from the same household or a cohort of low-risk individuals known to each other.

Register for the course on our registration page.

Private instruction for adults

This is a three-hour session for one or two adults from the same household or from an already-existing, low-risk cohort, age 18 years and older. Instruction may be tailored to specific interests or needs, depending on the circumstances. Students would sail on either 420s or Flying Scots.
